Just as an aside, if you're wondering why the flag is white, Rhode Island was admitted to the Union on May 29, 1790, which would have fallen between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so the use of white wasn't considered tacky at the time. (But then again, neither holiday existed in 1790, so I guess it's okay that it's white.) Anyway. Newport - An adorable little town -- and one with very expensive real estate. (Oct. '04) Providence - The capital of Rhode Island. And the capitol building was, and is, huge. (Oct. '04) Warwick - A suburb of Providence, but no less cute by any means. (Oct. '04) |
