Darwin is a teeny town of just 86,000 people (relative to the size of
most other territory capitol cities, anyway). Sitting as the gateway to
the outback and a mini-tropical place, it was also the warmest and most
humid of all of Australia that I had the fortune to visit.
Fortunately, the historic town hall is no longer used, given 3/4
of its walls were lost in the '97 cyclone.
From the beach, it looks like a rather lovely place (it is). Even
if you just look
from the footpath.
I can only imagine how big the fish are around these parts to need
a big gun just for fishing.
Borrowed from the U.S. Old West, or vice versa, I'm not sure, but
the parallels are eerie, aren't they?
I don't know what I think of this cafe, but the name alone sends
a chill down my dorsal feathers.
Even if the downtown area at night is as pretty with its neon and
what-not.
