MY WEBLOG

(sigh)
I should really trade in the boy for a dog, or a cat, or a newt or something more tolerable. The boy managed to sit through three films today, apparently (admittedly, at my direction), and I think it's melted his brain. Not Indiana-level meltdown, but enough to cause me minor irritation, sort of like when your wings rub together the wrong way on a warm spring day. So, if you have a pet, or maybe a pile of old rags, you'd like to trade in for a Tubby sort who's generally troubling to be around, let me know...

Clever in a Sea of Stupidity
CalTrans (DOT to the rest of the world) has those delightful traffic metering lights on at the on-ramps around these parts. So, Tubby and I are heading home this afternoon, and we're stuck at the lights, sort of. In front of us are two brunettes in a black Mustang, who apparently are confused at the two metering lights. Which could be confusing, if you didn't know there are two lanes (yes, Virginia, the math checks out). The driver was clearly looking at the far light for the left lane, but we were both in the right lane (even though both they and we were technically carpools; anyway). But given no cars in the left lane, that light didn't turn green, despite the one for our lane cycling green and back to red several times. They finally figured it out, thankfully. And the day got better from there. I ended up working on some movie endings, sundry trip plans, and am fielding an invitation to go to Moab, Utah, for some off-roading thing with a guy from Tubby's work; the guy goes by many names, but I'll merely refer to him as Slosh for our purposes, as that's also his web site address. But I'm leaning toward going, since it would be nice to travel with someone other than the Bald Wonder for a change...

Yup, still hot.
A temperate 84°F indoors, 78°F out of them doors, the high today was 97°F. Yuck. I let Tubby go mow the lawn today, and get him to wander out and about (he allegedly got pie or something), but seemed reasonably amused by the entire experience. I'd ask, but I don't really care.

Because it really is all about me
It's only 86°F inside now, 73°F outside... yes, we have a bit of a circulation issue within the nest. This weekend was one of movies, monster madness, and such things. The movies included getting the spoiled endings of Secondhand Lions and Underworld. The monsters is more a term of affection, for the two wee ones that sort of descending upon the nest this weekend. The only challenge was when the wee-est of the wee ones, Mercury (age 4 1/4) tried to bring me by the pool. Which was lovely, but with the amount of splashing, and the fact that I can't swim (and I really can't swim, unlike what the 8 year old lamented time and time again. Alas, still a good time.
