Venice -- Venezia -- is surrounded by water, and as such, a great many
of the streets are actually canals, navigated by gondolas being propelled
by an oarsman (or gondolier). For that reason, and figuring we didn't
have a great deal of time in this gorgeous city, we had to go right for
the boats.
When in Venice, you simply *must* take a gondola ride on the canals.
You just must.
Something akin to what you'd see in a postcard, eh? Except I got
to see it, up close and in person. :)
If you want that canal-fresh smell, drying your laundry over the
water is the only way to go.
I guess it stands to reason the mail in Venice is delivered by boat,
too.
A look down yet another canal, but this time while the gondola floated
under a bridge... oooh!
Yeah, by this time you're probably tired of the canal photos. Or,
you're not -- either way, that's it.
