A Perfect Getaway 2009 97 R 2.5 out of 5 ducks
Ending
Newlyweds Cliff and Cydney are wandering around Hawaii on their honeymoon. (There's a newspaper clipping mentioning a couple wandering around killing in the mountains of the island, unseen by the so-in-love pair.) After picking up supplies, they nearly pickup two hitchhikers, Kale and Cleo, but Cliff gets a funny feeling and changes his mind, though Cydney urges him to bring them seeing signs they're also newly married. Deeper in the mountains, they bump into Nick and Gina, a free spirited couple with a past (Nick is ex-Special Forces, complete with a steel plate in his head). They get further into the wild, and Nick suspects they're being followed, but after some goofy tactics, Cliff ends the charade. They encounter Kale and Cleo on the trail, Kale is still sore about the brush-off earlier. Cliff and Cydney are sure Nick and Gina are creepy, but can't figure out how to sneak off safely; they see a police helicopter land and arrest Kale and Cleo on a beach they've been hiking toward. Nick and Cliff go for a kayak trip, and Gina snoops and sees the couple's wedding photos on their camera. (In flashbacks, we then learn Cliff and Cydney are the killers, killing newlyweds and assuming their identifies, and Cliff is Cydney's psycho ex-boyfriend Rocky mentioned in her early life stories she shared with Gina). Cliff attacks Nick, shots fired (deflected by his head's steel plate), chasing and stuff, and finally Cydney flags down the police chopper and gets on. They fly to the trio, where she says Cliff is the killer; a sharp-shooter kills Cliff when he goes for a gun. Nick and Gina are loaded on board for medical attention, and Nick finally proposes to Gina with a ring he's been carrying around for more than a year (the ring shopping trip shown in flashback earlier); the couple plan to not go on a honeymoon.
