10/29/2003: "The thought crossed..."

... my mind that, given how often I go to the cinema, and after seeing another two movies yesterday for spoiling purposes (Beyond Borders and Radio) -- and watching nine people go in without paying, despite my paying for both films like everyone ought -- that maybe I should get a part time job at the theatre. Those who work there undoubtedly get to see the films AND get paid for it, and heck, I really only want the last 15-20 minutes of the film in many cases, anyway. Plus, they give you promo shirts and junk to wear; certainly, they'd be too large on me, but it's still worth looking into. And so it will be done...

Perhaps you're right -- but consider this: even if I do a half-assed job cleaning up, no one will notice, as the place will be filthy in just 30 short minutes with the next showing of the film. And given my age, I can't work closing shift, so the really heavy cleaning will be left to others. ;)

The bad thing about you working at a theater, Frank, is that you'll have to do some work. Sure, you'd get to see a movie for free, but is it worth having to scrape bubble gum and dirty popcorn off the cement floor? I'm just keeping in mind your laziness.
